The sunburst finishes are quite possibly the best-recognised and longest running of all of all of the Fender Stratocaster colour options, from the very first Stratocasters back in the mid-50s right the way up until present day it is still incredibly popular. Two-Tone Sunburst was offered as one of Fender's only in-house paint options (whilst the majority of other colours were sourced directly from the automotive industry) offered during the 1950s and subsequently superseded by the the three-tone sunburst finish in the late-50's/early-60s.
Although it's fair to say any Stratocaster player will have played and probably owned one of the sunburst variety, Buddy Holly is without doubt the most-recognised, particularly during the 1950s when the Stratocaster was still a relatively new instrument, he rarely performed without it and introduced the world to the Stratocaster guitar.
We are happy to offer this iconic body in its truest vintage-accurate form, hand-painted nitrocellulose sunburst, 1950s-correct shape and contours, including the all-important worm route, worn and aged to your liking, and available in either two-piece alder or swamp ash. For accuracy's sake swamp ash would be the 'correct' option but it looks just as beautiful in alder (see the photographs above).
